Reed Sloat

Family is important to me, and I’ll be glad to tell you it’s the one thing I couldn’t live without – and not just my wife, Anne, and our six children, but also my siblings, parents and in?laws. That’s why marrying the right person is the best thing I’ve ever done. She is the one who makes the best in life possible. I also rely on lessons learned from his mother, such as the importance of hard work in overcoming life’s challenges.

I grew up playing golf with his father and brothers. Which is why if I could travel anywhere in the world, I’d love to play the Old Course at St. Andrews in Scotland – the home of golf. But when it comes to places I’ve already been, Lanai, Hawaii, is at the top of the list. Anne and I loved the island, and we would love to go back for a visit someday. But here at home, my favorite way to spend a weekend day is working with my kids, especially since our two oldest are at an age where they have begun to learn the importance of work but still have fun doing it together.

Even though I thoroughly enjoy my career as a financial advisor, if I had the opportunity to do something else, I’d like to tackle the challenge of working in logistics for UPS or FedEx – something that would really stretch me mentally and keep me hopping all the time. Another thing that many people may not know is that I love to read “nerd books,” including “The Lord of the Rings,” “Harry Potter” and “The Name of the Wind.” And if there’s one thing that both Anne and I would love to learn it is how to fly a plane – an item on both our bucket lists.
